Gather fresh fruit from your local market. Make this project your own by remaining a conscious part of the creative process.

Use your cell phone as a camera and experiment with your still-life composition by lighting the area and using shadows to give your picture a three-dimensional effect.

Crop your image as necessary to make your composition dynamic. You can’t go back and change the reference image while you’re working on your collage, so always make sure you have a well-lit, colorful reference image before you begin.

Work the grid; it’s your visual reference tool. Don’t guess what you see; look at your picture, and then go find what you are looking for in the magazine papers you have.
